The Kató Havas Association for the New Approach (KHANA) was founded in January 1985 at the request of many followers of the New Approach worldwide. The Association now has representatives in over 20 countries across six continents, including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Hungary, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Argentina, Israel, South Africa, and Switzerland.
Kató Havas, author of “A New Approach to Violin Playing,” “Stage Fright,” and other publications, is internationally renowned for her workshops and lecture-demonstrations on the Release from Tension and Anxiety. Her groundbreaking work has earned prestigious recognition: the American String Teachers Association’s International Award (1992), Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to music (2002), and the ESTA Lifetime Achievement Award (2013).
The Principles of the Havas New Approach apply to players of all standards from the most experienced professional to the beginner. The Association serves as a global network where members stay up to date with new developments as, by its very nature, the New Approach is constantly evolving. It also enables people to contact each other for chamber music collaborations, facilitates teacher-student transfers when necessary, and allows newcomers to discuss the workings of the Havas New Approach with members who have a deeper understanding of the work.
Members worldwide contribute insights on how the New Approach addresses physical challenges and enhances musical performance across diverse circumstances.
