At the ESTA Finland 54th Annual Conference, August 28 – 30, 2026 in Helsinki, Finland, Gerianne Wigboldus and Jeanne Porcino Dolamore will be presenting workshops and research related to the Havas New Approach.
‘Gerianne Wigboldus will give a workshop on Embodied freedom in string teaching: The core principles of the Havas New Approach in practice. This 60-minute workshop introduces violin and string teachers to the core principles of the Havas New Approach through active physical and musical participation, addressing both the technical organization and the psychological conditions essential for reliable and expressive performance.’
Jeanne Porcino Dolamore will present a workshop entitled Exploring the String Chorale Concept: Developing String Ensembles That Truly Sing. The String Chorale Concept© is an ensemble approach that invests in youth through music and gives back to communities through performance. It urges directors to “think choir, teach strings,” reimagining rehearsals so that students’ inner musicians lead the way and each player has a meaningful musical role.
Jeanne Porcino Dolamore will also present a poster on the first documented historical-biographical study examining the pedagogical legacy of Kató Havas, titled Tracing the Legacy of Kató Havas: Biography, Pedagogy, and Contemporary Evolution of the New Approach to Violin Playing.
